Slackin' Off...

4/6/2008

OK, so I lied in my last post..... I still have not gotten back to work. I spent the weekend screwing around, buying some stuff for my place, and scoping out the neighborhood. Oh, and getting lost, of course (3 times) . Yesterday, I discovered that there is a Starbucks almost within walking distance! SWEET! Also, I FINALLY figured out how to get to my spot in the parking garage (1 week later). I have the directions written on a napkin in my car. They read something like this: Right into garage, right at gate, right at top of hill. Guess it was fairly simple after all, and now I understand why both people at the front desk were looking at me like my head was on fire when I told them I got lost in the garage. Hehe.

Also, not sure if I mentioned it or not, but there is a Thai place that is pretty much in my backyard. Since Thai food is my favorite in the world, and also since I suck at cooking (last time I tried to make french toast, I went through a half loaf of bread before I said screw it and went back to the grocery store to buy the frozen kind you just pop in the toaster)......anyway.. I was pretty stoked about having a Thai place so close. So, Friday night, I was all excited to try the new place out, and actually be able to walk and pick it up.... I'm not even going to lie, I got lost on the way there. I'm not kidding. It's literally 1 block away, and somehow (too much wine, and a bad sense of direction), I got lost while walking there. I was SO PISSED at myself. People probably thought I was a crazy person, as I wandered down the streets cursing at myself out loud. Anyway, I'm pleased to announce that their chicken red curry ROCKS. Not quite spicy enough, even though I order it as hot as it comes, but I can definitely live with it....

Oh, I also came to the conclusion that Skypoint must give some sort of discount on your association fees if (#1) You are a girl and have at least 1 (but preferably 2 or more) snack-sized Paris Hilton-esque yippy dogs dressed in rhinestones and Louis Vuitton.....

OR... (#2) You are a big muscle-y dude and only wear shirts that are a minimum of 2 sizes too small......

Hehehehe.

Anyway, I SWEAR I will be back to work tomorrow. Vacation's over.. For real this time.

Stephani, I am shocked that you would dare to have a life outside of real estate investing!!

Seriously, don't beat yourself up. It's just a business, it's not your whole life.

Enjoy the curry chicken!

GPS is your friend. I use the Mio Digiwalker C230, but you should be able to swing something a little more robust--a Garmin Nuvi, at least. Skipt the MP3 players and crap. Just go with the basics.

The only downside is that whatever in-born navigational skills you currently have will completely atrophy in one month or less.

Of course, they don't work in parking garages, but for those I recommend 1000 yards of twine, minimum. (Which is what adventurers on the Oregon Trail used to call "GPS." True story.)

You're welcome. ;-)
