Last Minute Larry

12/23/2008

It's 1:18 am and I am not even packed yet. And I am baking cookies. My flight leaves in 6 hours.

I have been running around like a crazy person since 9am this morning trying to get everything done before I go. I managed to get all of my shopping done, and let me tell you, that was a fantastic time. I ran out of patience round about 6pm, and ended up getting everyone gift cards (except my nephew Trevor), but it still took me forever. I also managed to find myself a coat (half off), because I think it's going to be 10 degrees or something like that in St. Louis. 10 degrees is painful. I also got a hat and gloves, and a scarf and earmuffs.

I just drove across town to drop off some cookies on my friend Jeff's doorstep, and now I am worried that he is going to trip over them in the morning and crack his head open or something. I put them in one of those Christmas tins (with Santa on it) right outside his front door. You have to step down to get out of his front door, though, and I'm hoping he sees them before he steps. That would be a pretty crappy Christmas surprise to slip on a tin of cookies and end up in a coma. Maybe I should call him first thing in the morning..

I'm whipping up one more batch of cookies for my friend Dave, who I kind of tricked into taking me to the airport at 5am. Technically, he said yes when I asked him on Friday if he would do it, but I waited until he was 3 shots of tequila and two beers into our conversation before I brought it up. Hehe.

The timer on the oven is beeping, so I gotta run....

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas- stay warm, enjoy the time with your family and friends, and I will talk to you when I get back...
